Letter From President
Welcome Oak Leafs players, families and fans!
We are kicking off the Oak Leafs 26th season this year! Hockey season is my favorite season and we will be playing our 4th year at the MidAmerican Energy Company RecPlex. The RecPlex is an remarkable facility with many benefits including our personalized locker room (thank you to all the sponsors) and the agreement with DMU Personal Training Therapy and Sports Performance Services.
We are excited to have Head Coach Scott Long back for his 10th year! He has a wealth of hockey knowledge from his experiences as a player and coach. As Director of Des Moines Youth Hockey Association, he has also worked with a majority of our players from the start of their hockey journeys. He coaches the kids to be great players, but more importantly to be responsible and respectful young men. He has certainly helped to create a family atmosphere that the team appreciates. Returning to work alongside Coach Long are his assistant coach Robbie George and goalie coach Derek Hender. Joining the coaching staff this season are new assistant coaches Austin Greenough and Cole Larson.
Our goal as an organization is to develop a team on and off the ice that we are all proud of and this has certainly been the case. We could not accomplish everything we do each season without the help and hard work from so many parents and volunteers-that is how we truly succeed!
We also want to say thank you to all our amazing fans! We are so grateful for all the support and cheers. The players certainly love having the crowds in the stands and hearing “Let’s Go Leafs!” We appreciate everyone that is able to attend our games just as much as everyone that live streams our games (this is also thankful to hard working parents and out-of-town fans).
Here's to another successful season of Oak Leafs hockey and making memories with great players, families and fans!
Let’s Go Leafs!!
Sincerely,
Kari Brett
